the family
David and Andrew Viola
Growing up in an Italian household where food was just as important as family, church and hockey, twins David and Andrew found their passion at a young age. As they grew up, they experimented in the kitchen with their mother and father who had a significant impact on their creativity today.
In their senior year of high school the twins took a food and nutrition class not knowing that this would have a significant impact on their future. Their teacher pushed them beyond the boundaries which made them strive for excellence. David and Andrew quickly excelled beyond their classmates and started to concentrate particularly in baking as opposed to culinary arts. This inspired both of them to start thinking outside the box and embraced their creativity.
As their skills progressed they were asked to compete in the Dufferin Peel Skills Canada competition in April 2006. They placed first and second respectively in a competition of more than 20 other high school students. The winner of the DPSCC would then advance to the Ontario Skills Canada competition in Kitchener. Andrew placing first in the DPSCC decided to step aside and let David compete. David did extremely well for this first time in the competition, finishing 8th out of 20 competitors frofinishing 8th out of 20 competitors from all over Ontario.
Since then both David and Andrew have completed their program of Baking and Pastry Arts at George Brown College and continued to advance their skills as certified pastry chefs.
Today David and Andrew are consistently exceeding expectations and pushing limits. They achieve the unbelievable as many clients are speechless when they receive their cake. Every cake has always been completed with their hands and their hearts to create a special memory for each and every client. They are not just known for the presentation of their art pieces but also the one of a kind taste. Clients don't want to cut a slice of their cake, but when they do, they are blown away by the incredible flavour.
